~This is the fifteenth post in a series running through the month of June 2009 in which I attempt to post once a day for the month.~
…but no one has to know.
*****UPDATE*****
This just in from the field – this is not the best dessert to make in advance. If the syrup cools, it gets rock hard (like candy – it probably tastes really good) and while reheating it will make it liquid again, it will be sort of thready. Given how easy this is to make, I really advise just prepping everything in advance up to the point of making the syrup and do that at the last minute. Thanks to Chrystine Windle Ammari for the info!!
*****END UPDATE*****
Strawberries in Brown Sugar Balsamic Vinegar
1 pint strawberries
2-3 T brown sugar, packed
2-3 T (same amount as brown sugar) balsamic vinegar
Vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt
Wash, hull and slice strawberries. Combine the vinegar and brown sugar in a small sauce pan. Heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Continue heating until syrup starts to boil, then reduce heat, but continue boiling until syrup thickens a bit. Continue stirring occasionally while you’re doing all this heating.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in the strawberries until completely coated with syrup. Spoon over scoops of vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt. Serve to friends and family.*
Didn’t I say it was stupid easy?
Cheers.

Oh, I think I just fell in love with you. I cannot wait to make this, it sounds amazing and just what I’ve been looking for.
Also, I love the name of your site. I think I actually did one of those embaressing snorting laughs when I read it.
Be careful who you feed this to – they will fall in love with you for sure!
Thanks for stopping by.

I always love adding strawberries to my salad and then adding a balsamic vinigrette. I never thought to make a dessert like this. I can’t wait to try it out.
Thank you,
Patricia
