Wine Wednesday|Cline Zinfandel

Hello again Wine Wednesday!

I’ve been missing the blog and as I explained in the last post, there isn’t a whole lot of baking going on around here.*  So naturally, it’s time for the return of Wine Wednesday!

This week we tried a Zinfandel from Cline.  Overall, a definite winner.  It had the usual fruitiness of Zinfandel with some raspberry and blueberry notes.  This isn’t a heavy or syrupy wine, but it’s still got some heft to it – I believe the pros would call that “balance.”**  It was also very smooth – not a lot of heat to it and not overly tannin-y, but far from flat or boring.

And this one has a nice price.  It’s going for $7.99 at Trader Joe’s.  Not bargain-basement by our standards, but a very respectable bottle to bring to a party and put out in the front row of the beverage table.

Until next Wednesday!

Box Wine Rating Recap:

Cline Zinfandel

Rating: ★★★★☆

*Even if we hadn’t “gone Paleo” it’s been in the mid-90s on all of my days off recently, which does not lend itself to baking in our un-airconditioned apartment.  It’s the second week of November.  I know we live in SoCal and all, but what gives??
Or maybe they wouldn’t.  I can never remember which terms are supposed to apply to what wine qualities.
