I think I’m turning into a Zinf-a-phile! Maybe the California native in me is coming through.
We liked this one. Here are my notes:
- Fairly smooth
- A little tangy, but not tart or sour
- Some kind of fruit taste – maybe plum?
- A little hot at the end but not overly so – makes for a nice finish/after taste
- Husband’s assessment? He thought it was a little “thick” (I would say “syrupy,” but I think we mean essentially the same thing), but drinkable
I started thinking after we had tasted the wine that the thickness/syrupiness might be remedied by drinking it with a really flavorful meal, like a steak or a spicy red sauce pasta. We tend to try these while we’re cooking rather than eating. I will find a sturdy appetizer to go along these wine tastings with so we can compare how drinkable they are alone versus with food.
Notes are better! Until next week.
Cheers.

Hi Kathlyn, thanks for the review of the Incredible Red! That’s great that you liked the 2008 vintage—I agree with you, the IR is definitely a “dinner wine,” she likes to be paired with hearty, savory stuff (usually in a red sauce).
If you’d like a lighter-bodied wine with some more complexity, I’d recommend giving Peachy Canyon’s Mustard Creek… It’s not as budget friendly, but it’s quite nice.
Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by the blog and commenting. It’s a treat to have a winemaker visit! We love the wines of Paso Robles and would love to try the Mustard Creek – feel free to send us a bottle and we’ll review it for sure!
Thanks again for the comment!
