Through the miracle that is…I’m not sure what it is, actually. Pre-posting? I’m writing this almost a week in advance. Yes, that means I’m ahead of schedule. Which is also a minor miracle. Not sure what to chalk that up to, but regardless, the return of Wine Wednesday is off to a flying start.
This week we have an organic wine from Trader Joe’s private label.* Normally, we don’t like organic wines all that much. My husband mentioned as we were tasting this one, that organics tend to have an earthy taste to them (which is a quality of French wine that I don’t care for). This one was…what’s the opposite of “earthy” in wine-speak? Fruity? It wasn’t quite that either. In fact, while it had hints of blackberry, it wasn’t nearly as fruity as most of the Zins we’ve tried. A little hot (I believe you can chalk that up to alcohol), sort of peppery with a light/medium body.
So while this one wasn’t a fav, it’s got a great price point for an organic ($4.99) and while it isn’t spectacular, it’s pretty drinkable. If consuming organic foods is important to you, add this one to your list. If you have friends who like receiving organic foods as presents, give this one as a gift.**
Until next Wednesday!
